Waiting in Germany

The end of the year

snow -10 °C

We await the visa approval at our parents' homes in Germany. Of course, this means plenty of good food and drinks!

Leaving Ushaw Moor

Last day in our English home

snow -2 °C

Turning the key at our English home for the last time felt very strange. We lived there for four years and really liked the bright conservatory and lush garden.

The two days of packing went well; it was cold but bright and not much snow, so the guys from Robinsons didn't have a problem with their lorries. It only started snowing heavily when we drove our car to the depot in Darlington on Wednesday afternoon (22/12/10).

But we managed to catch the train to Edinburgh and arrived at our hotel at around 8 pm (after we discovered that we could have walked in 5 mins from the station, instead of waiting 20 min for a taxi!). We indulged in a room service meal and in Kate's champagne - a perfect way of celebrating our last day on British soil after almost 10 years of life in England!

The dogs, of course, had already travelled comfortably a week earlier and are now enjoying 'holiday near the Alps':
